Luxury Black Forest Chalet Lohmuehle
Alpirsbach
Very beautifully and quietly located house. We were very kindly welcomed by the manager, Mrs. Götz, and shown through the high-quality furnished house. Everything was very clean, and there were even fresh flowers in various places. Where can you find something like that? In the kitchen, you find everything you need. In the bedrooms, good and comfortable box spring beds. We missed nothing. We spent a very nice weekend with 9 adults and four small children in the Lohmühle and can absolutely recommend the house.

A worthwhile excursion destination is the spa and cultural city of Baden-Baden. If you want to extend your tour, the Schwarzwaldhochstraße, the B 500, is an option. Along the route, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Vosges and the scenically very attractive Rhine Plain. The four-kilometer-long Battert Adventure Trail is reminiscent of a fairy tale forest. Near Baden-Baden, another natural spectacle awaits you: The Geroldsauer Waterfall is easily accessible via wooden footbridges and climbs. Feel free to linger longer by the cozy pond and enjoy the relaxation, as Johannes Brahms once experienced. The municipality of Gutach on the Baden Black Forest Railway is also worth seeing. Family-friendly attractions and green meadows await you. A museum of a different kind is the Vogtsbauernhof Open Air Museum. Experience the life and work in the Black Forest farms of the last 400 years up close. In the historic farmhouses with their parlors and chambers, you will feel transported to another time. While the accommodation may not have been so cozy in the past, during a tour of the Hermann-Schilli-House, you will learn more about the hard life in the Black Forest. A highlight is an old mill with waterwheel drive. From a height of 163 meters, the water plunges down the seven cascades of the Triberg Waterfalls, especially spectacular after heavy rain or when meltwater is flowing. Follow the cascade trail and breathe in the crystal-clear air. Take advantage of the Hochschwarzwald Card, which saves you money on many other attractions and admissions. Another few euros saved, better spent on a delicious ice cream on the terrace of your vacation apartment or in the apartment. The 1493-meter-high Feldberg is the highest mountain in the state, also the highest elevation of the German low mountain range. With children, you can climb it with the Feldbergbahn and enjoy the idyllic panorama of the namesake health resort. Fortified with a hearty breakfast, Freiburg im Breisgau awaits you. Stroll leisurely through the historic old town and climb the tower of Freiburg Minster, a Gothic masterpiece. Gable-decorated bourgeois houses on Münsterplatz bear witness to the interesting history of the small city. Make a stop at a lake like Titisee in Neustadt. The tranquility it radiates will transfer to you. The Seestraße in the High Black Forest acquaints you with the most important souvenirs and impressions of the Black Forest. In Oppenau, a beautiful health resort, you can play mini-golf, bowl, or swim.
From the Feldberg-Steig, you have a good overview of the nature reserve as well as the Feldsee. The area is especially a secret tip for winter sports enthusiasts. The famous health resort is simply enticing at any time of year! Among the most beautiful mountains are the Belchen or the Kandel. At a lofty height on the Seebuck, you can try to spot your apartment. The highest wedding room in Baden-Württemberg is housed on the 11th floor of the observation tower. The 1284-meter-high Schauinsland near Freiburg is perfect if you are on a mountain bike. One of the most mysterious peaks, which you will still rave about in your domicile in the evening, is the 1241-meter-high Kandel. After the demolition of the Devil's Pulpit, the Kandel is known as the Blocksberg. Climbers and paragliders love the Kandel as a starting point. The Belchen is 1414 meters high and can alternatively be reached by hiking or with the Belchen cable car. Your child will love the adventure hiking trail Regenwurmpfad. Nighttime snowshoe tours are increasingly popular. The Herzogenhorn is 1415 meters high. Many hiking trails and a nature trail complement the fantastic panorama from the Herzogenhorn over the Rhine Plain, but also over the Alpine chain and the Vosges. The Hochfirst with its observation tower is the venue for the World Cup ski jumping with the Hochfirst ski jump. The longest German toboggan run, the Hasenkorn Coaster, runs over the Horn. Lovingly designed for children is alternatively the Magic Path with bat cave and gnome hut. Admire this natural spectacle over a gorge or the forest while hang gliding or paragliding. Hohenzollern Castle awaits with a wonderful view of the Swabian Alb. Not one museum, but four museums you visit when you go to Wasserschloss Glatt. The impressions you gather during these days in the middle of the Black Forest are as diverse as they are astonishing. The Todtnau Waterfalls are the highest natural waterfalls in Germany. If the weather is not so inviting to leave the apartment, take your loved ones to Bad Herrenalb or Bad Krozingen for a thermal bath.
In the Northern Black Forest, the beauty of nature is revealed with cirque lakes and moor forests. Almost as harmoniously as in the holiday home, you hike past the vineyards on the western edge of the Black Forest. The Westweg, one of the oldest long-distance hiking trails, is 285 kilometers long. It is also suitable for a hiking tour with the family or the dog in stages. Pass old wine villages on the Ortenau Wine Trail or discover the Murgleiter in the Northern Black Forest. The rocky gorges provide adrenaline rushes and unforgettable nature experiences. Perfect for an active vacation! Especially suitable for families, but also for active vacationers, is a trip to the Black Forest National Park. From the Maisacher Turmsteig, you will become fully aware of the size and beauty of the Black Forest. In the Southern Black Forest Nature Park, you experience the sustainable efforts to protect the 394,000-hectare area while simultaneously using it for various sports activities – in harmony with nature and landscape. Would you like to experience the Black Forest from a completely new perspective, such as on a horseback riding tour or a beech tree hike? Summer and winter alike. The offerings of the nature park range from sports to pristine hikes or geocaching. The long-distance ski hiking day or snowshoe hiking are sweaty alternatives to skiing or snowboarding. Also located here is the Schluchsee, a reservoir and with almost 70 square kilometers of area, the largest in the Black Forest. Take a moment to enjoy the tranquility in nature with a view of the Schluchsee. Plan more time for Europa-Park. Relaxation is not possible here, but a colorful program of entertainment dispels boredom on a family vacation. 13 roller coasters and various theme parks like the Minimoys entertain both young and old.
You can't miss a sweet treat: You must try the Black Forest cherry cake and take a piece back to your vacation apartment. Equally tasty and perfect for a hearty snack is Black Forest ham. You can literally taste the fresh air and the power of nature in the regional cuisine. While hiking, you strengthen yourself with homemade farmer's bread, bacon, and liver sausage. As a thirst quencher, experienced hikers rely on apple must with a light spice of mustard and horseradish. Thus fortified, you head to a museum or a neighboring monastery. Not only vegetarians enjoy the Black Forest cuisine and love cheese spaetzle. Even soup lovers have a hard time in the Black Forest. The Black Foresters love soups in all variations. A classic is the Fädlesuppe. The Landjäger sausages are hidden in stick bread and taste best when you prepare this delicacy over a campfire. If you're wondering what, please, Bibbeleskäse is? It's quark, of course. After the hearty cheese spaetzle on the mountain pasture, you should indulge in the typical cake of the place later in your accommodation. The calorie bomb is definitely worth a temptation and therefore perfect for rainy days when you stay in the holiday home or your four-legged friend romps in the garden.
In numerous galleries, artisan workshops, and local museums, you can learn more about the lovingly maintained long-standing traditions. The contrast between modern and old-fashioned is fascinating. A globally known souvenir, the Black Forest cuckoo clock, has been manufactured here since the 18th century. Perhaps a handmade clock in your holiday home also tells the time? The world's largest cuckoo clocks can be found at Eble Uhren-Park or in Schonach. Art and craftsmanship are highly regarded in the Black Forest: Near Freiburg, the Black Forest Craftsmen's Day takes place annually, where you can admire works made of porcelain, wood, metal, or ceramic. Amber jewelry, soaps, or stone sculptures, as well as hand-embroidered treasures, beautifully decorate your apartment or vacation home before you take them home as souvenirs. The traditional costumes of the Black Forest are colorful and equally admirable. Particularly striking is the Bollenhut with its red pom-poms. The eleven pom-poms symbolize the Holy Trinity, the four cardinal directions, and the earthly. A side note: Don't forget the German Clock Museum! Here, you dive into the development of timekeeping devices from days gone by. Over 8000 objects and a library about clockmaking with historical sources and company writings provide exciting reading that amazes even non-clock enthusiasts. You will find sacred art in St. Blasien. The town, nestled in a small valley of the Alb, invites you to the former Benedictine abbey with its cathedral. This is one of the largest dome churches in Europe. The dome has a diameter of 36 meters and is worth a detour on the way to Freiburg. The health resort Menzenschwand is characterized by typical old farmhouses. Old traditions and crafts accompany you everywhere in the Black Forest. Experience traditional methods of reverse glass painting, bag making, candle drawing, or wood carving up close. On the Badenweiler Sculpture Trail, you walk along the 2.8-kilometer-long route past 22 sculptures by the artist Gerhard Helmers. A popular excursion destination is the violin exhibition in the town hall of Rötenbach. Learn about the history of the demanding craft of violin making and visit a reverse glass painting exhibition in the same building afterward. One of the most dominant materials is wood, which is processed in various ways, not only for the popular cuckoo clocks.
The Black Forest is the highest and largest contiguous low mountain range in Germany. This popular region in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg, including the High Black Forest and Central Black Forest, captivates anew each time. In this scenically impressive region of the low mountain range, a variety of holiday homes and apartments await you, modern and comfortable - holiday accommodations in the south simply for feeling good. Within a short car ride, or a relaxing walk from the vacation apartment, you can reach the most beautiful sights of Baden-Württemberg. Look forward to cultural highlights and historically interesting facts while spending a relaxing vacation in the Black Forest. From St. Blasien with its beautiful monastery complex, a historic glass carrier trail leads all the way to neighboring Switzerland. Already on the drive to the vacation apartment in a quiet location, let the unique landscape impress you. Many sights are comfortably accessible from an accommodation with Wi-Fi. Comfort is guaranteed in the vacation apartment. You decide whether you prefer an apartment or a house with modern facilities - depending on how many people you are traveling with. If you book a private holiday accommodation, you can easily bring your dog along. In a family-friendly vacation, there should be plenty of time for relaxation and leisure. A private holiday accommodation is affordable and also promises an adventurous family vacation. Let yourself drift. Explore the holiday destination with the whole family with the Hochschwarzwald Card, or take a trip to Baden-Baden. Even in smaller places like Oppenau or Kappel-Grafenhausen, there are interesting things to discover. Above all, you can feel this carefreeness directly from the terrace of your vacation apartment, which an apartment does not offer. Ample space, independence, and freedom are just a few reasons why a vacation apartment is just right for you.
